Tell us a bit about your blog?

As a tastemaker, I task myself with the goal of seeking out the best of the best of what the world has to offer both locally and abroad. The pursuit of the unique experience - be it food, drink, design, clothing or anything really - is what I consider to be the driving force behind my journey of discovery. Through Instagram, writing and photography I get to showcase all things that I hold dear and divine.

What is your travel style?

I am a hedonistic luxury explorer with an insatiable taste for the finest things in life from art, food, fashion and beautiful destinations. I never travel without a light jacket to suit any weather condition, a good pair of denims because they are the most versatile item of clothing, and a hat of course!

Which Old Khaki items will you be packing this weekend?

The Kenzo Leather Weekender, Arthur Jack Dax Men's Boots, Marlon Men’s Parka Jacket, Sid Bomber Jacket, Carlisle Cardigan and Ace Men’s Denim Shirt.

Seth Shezi Long Weekend Travel Picks

What is your top travel tip?

To get a cheap rate at a great hotel, always book last minute or even show up at the foyer- it has certainly worked for me a few times and was always beyond worth it! Also, when packing I roll up my belts and put them in my shirt collars - really helps to keep shirts looking good.

Which travel destination is on your bucket list?

Winter star-gazing in Sutherland!

CARLINN MEYER (Superficial Girl)

Tell us a bit about your blog?

My love for photography, travel and writing started at an early age and I spent most of my twenties living abroad or travelling the world. It seemed like an easy transition into making it a full-time thing. My travel blog is still quite new but I did have a fashion blog since 2007. As I grew so did my focus and my interests and now it’s turned into a travel and lifestyle blog. Fashion is still quite a big part of what I do and I love sharing my travel wardrobe with my readers and followers.

What is your travel style?

I definitely have a laid-back travel style but I do put a lot of thought into my travel wardrobe. You will always see me with my signature cargo jacket at the airport and I never leave home without some kind of hat! Comfortable but cool shoes are also high on my list and you will almost never find a pair of high heels in my suitcase.

Which Old Khaki items will you be packing this weekend?

The Liyya Ethnic Print reversibe Poncho and the Caterpillar Narcissa Ladies Boots.

What is your top travel tip?

This is quite a simple one, but a total lifesaver for me because I am not the greatest packer! Roll all your clothes as tightly as possible - this not only saves on space but it also leaves your clothes less creased.

Which travel destination is on your bucket list?

At the moment it is Finland but I also really want to go to Alberta in Canada!

Tell us a bit about your blog?

I’m a Cape Town based writer, Instagrammer and social curator. A while back, sitting on a remote beach in Thailand, I read a little quote that has made a massive difference to my life: “Don’t give the world what you think it needs, but take what makes you come alive and do that; because the world needs more people who have come alive.” Since then I’ve sought to reorient my life around this, trying to understand myself and others, and what makes us come alive. 13 years later and I couldn’t have made a better choice. Along the way, I’ve also discovered that I’m something of an experience junkie and aficionado. I crave new experiences, and because of my love for people I love taking them along. I’m forever saying something along the lines of “Hey, why don’t we go and do this”, or “flip it would be cool to go and see…”.

My blog focuses on travel, lifestyle, spirituality, Cape Town and South African-related topics interspersed with personal anecdotes and musings. Some of what I write is also published on other online magazines. As I love understanding the world through photography and sharing those experiences with others, Instagram has become a helpful tool to do just that, so I spend quite a bit of time on it!

What is your travel style?

I suppose my signature travel style is ‘adventure budget travel with a touch of class’ – now there’s a mouthful. As I’m an experience junkie I’m always trying to find great experiences, but as I’m self-employed doing things cheaply is always a factor. I do however like the finer things in life, and working as a travel writer often allows me to stay at some beautiful places, or enjoy those moments of more luxurious indulgence!

As for my travel must-haves, I rarely travel without my Kindle. I love reading and this little device means I don’t have to carry a pile of books with me anymore! Secondly versatile multipurpose/walking shoes – you never know what kind of terrain you’ll experience, or what spontaneous adventure lies around the corner, so a pair of flexible shoes is a must. Thirdly I love to travel with a small bottle or flask of whiskey. If a fantastic sunset view presents itself, or mountain summit needs celebrating, a little whiskey should be close at hand!

Which Old Khaki items will you be packing this weekend?

The Arthur Jack Tan Jagger shoes, Russ Men’s Pullover, Denver Men’s Tee, Benny Oxford Men’s Shirt and Garth Leather belt.

Jared's Travel Picks

What is your top travel tip?

If you love photography like I do, and have a digital camera – sometimes you want to get your pictures transferred instantly to your phone for sharing on social media or with your family. I have a SD card that doubles up as a Wi-Fi chip; you can then simply connect to the SD card with your phone and immediately download your photos. Very nifty!

Which travel destination is on your bucket list?

This would have to be Franschhoek. I’m in love with this little Winelands town – it never seems to lose its charm. Plenty of wine farms and places to eat, stunning hikes, a coffee roastery – what more could you want?

You can follow Jared and his mates on their road trip up the West Coast by checking out his Instagram account.

Keep your eye on the Old Khaki blog and Instagram account in coming weeks and months for more inspiration to update your winter travel wardrobe this season. Happy holidays everyone!
